Minor Update

I will not be posting a blog today, due to some personal events that came up in my life this week.  Hopefully everything will be sorted out and I will be back on Thursday, but I am not making any promises.  There has been a tragedy in my family and I will be out of commission for a few days.  Thanks for your patience.  For all of this, here is a webcam picture of todays manicure.  Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Olive Branch.

It's a rushed and messy manicure, but I figured I would leave you with something.  And since I'm never without polish I just slapped something easy on today.

If I only had some Courage.

This is China Glaze C-C-Courage, which was originally from the Wizard of Oz collection.  Since then the company has made it permanent.  This color is yet another shimmery purple, which we all know I can never get enough of.  It has been so long since I did this manicure I have no idea how the application was, but I am sure that now I would be much better at applying than I was back then!
We have gotten to the point in my backlog where the nails are short and stubby and my nail photography skills are questionable. But that means I am nearing the end of my extras and will be able to start posting (semi) recent manicures in order that they were done!

Eek! A Snowcone!

This is Orly Snowcone as a base for a Giles Eek manicure.  By far Snowcone is one of my favourite polishes out there, it coats evenly and is perfection in one coat.  I have to say, this manicure is up there in my favourites as well.  The Eep! is easy to do and so gosh darn cute that it's hard not to show it off.  Every time I see pictures of someone with the cute little eyes it gives me an incredible urge to do another version of this manicure.

Candy Shop.

This is Claires Candy Shop, which is a pretty well known Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop dupe.  I didn't know if I was going to like this color so I decided to go for the cheap option to try it out.
After wearing this I definitely fell in love.  I recently purchased the DL version and I can't wait to try it out for myself!

Take me out to the ball game.

This is a quick, not very clear, extra blog for Sunday.  I am going to the Oriole's game for my close friend's birthday and I had to share my manicure.  This is Wet n Wild Black with Lynnderella Cauldron Drippings and an accent of Color Craze White and Orly One Night Stand as baseballs.  I don't know if I will be able to get better pictures of this manicure since my beloved camera has no battery and my charger is missing at the moment, but I had to share this with everyone.

Fire Away.

This is Deborah Lippmann Hit me with your Best Shot with a matte accent nail.  As soon as I knew this polish existed I had to have it.  I love Pat Benetar and anything related to the 80s, so nail polish with a Pat Benetar theme was a no brainer!  It ended up being a gorgeous gunmetal that I really love.

Fiona had a Party

This is OPI Fiercly Fiona.  Just like all of the Shrek colors it was a dream to apply.  Even though it is a green tinted yellow it was incredibly pigmented and very easy to apply.
I hate yellow by itself so I put on top a coat of Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters.  The combination of the two is actually one of my favourites.  PoFV can liven up almost any creme.
I was apparently too bored that day, so I decided to mattify my ring finger.  I don't really love matte nails, mostly because the texture gets to me.  It reminds me of stonewear or chalkboard and I can't handle that, but I really love this combination matte!  It looks really interesting and slightly cartoony.
And put a coat of white crackle on my thumb.  I actually really love all the things that could have been done with this manicure.  Each time I experimented with something new it turned out looking pretty neat.  I would love to revisit this sometime and play around some more now that I have even more effect polishes!
Here is the thumb up close.  I really like the effect actually!  (Sorry for not cropping this last shot, my computer is being a little wonky right now)

A tint of Desire

This is Revlon Just Tinted in Desire.  I love the Just Tinted line because they have a ton of color, but are still sheer and light.  The finish on the Just Tinted line is also really neat, they aren't matte, but they aren't glossy either. They are this weird suede-like in between that I just adore.

I actually stamped this manicure, but it's going to be awhile before I show my Konad skills on the blog.  Let's just say that it leaves something to be desired.

I love a good Cupcake

This is Orly Cupcake.  This color applies flawlessly and is overall just an amazing polish.  I love Orly for their pastel cremes, they always apply like a dream and look so beautiful.  If I could only have one finish from one brand for the rest of my life it would be Orly cremes.  They are fantastic to work with.
Since I only have one picture of Cupcake and I don't really  want to do a whole post on the pedicure I figure I'll throw this one right here.  This is Deborah Lippmann Believe.  Nothing too special, but I can't really resist a Lippmann.

Starry Pink's Popular

For this post I am wearing Revlon Starry Pink.  This one has also been rereleased as Popular.  I can't say I love this color, but it's nice for what it is.  Maybe I don't love it because it doesn't really play well with my skin tone.
All I can think of when I see the name Popular is the musical Wicked.  I sang that piece as a chorale number back in highschool and it gets stuck in my head at even the mere mention of the word.

A Radiant Blue Mosaic

I have an incredibly funny story that goes along with this bottle of polish.  Although, at the time it was not entertaining in the least.  The bottle you are looking at is Revlon Blue Mosaic, which has since been repromoted as Radiant.  I used to own Blue Mosaic, now I own Radiant.  For once I am really glad a company rereleased a polish.

One morning I woke up and walked out into the living room to find a large puddle of blue goo on my mother's beige carpet. Apparently, since my darling dog had been left alone for too long, he (or she, don't know which) decided to go treasure hunting in my purse. I had left the bottle of Blue Mosaic in my bag just in case I needed to touch up a nail throughout the day. Buster (or Scarlet) found the bottle and destroyed it all over the living room floor. Needless to say, I spent the day on the phone with my Uncle who owns a Servpro tending to the mess.

This is what a bottle of nail polish looks like after one or two corgis have gotten to it.  I know, it's a horribly depressing sight.

I gave my Concubine some Sugar

For this manicure I wore a coat of MAC Concubine with a layer of Orly Sugar on top.  You can only really see Sugar in the right light, but it added a lot of dimension to the MAC polish.
I was pretty disappointed with Concubine on its own, the beautiful raspberry shimmer in the bottle didn't translate to the nail nearly as well.  I decided to add a little help from one of my favourite subtle shimmers.
Inside with the flash you can see a lot of the glitter from Sugar.  I probably used two coats to even get that much reflection, but it was definitely worth it.  The polish is so thin that you can layer it over and over to get the amount of glimmer you want.  It's definitely worth picking up to spice up polishes that need a little extra oomph.

The Royal Navy Hails the Queen

TOE POST WARNING WARNING!

This is a funky french on my toes with Butter London All Hail the Queen and Royal Navy.  This looked gorgeous on and frankly I had trouble taking it off.  I didn't think I would like a french on my feet, but for some reason it really looked good to me.  The only issue was the the tips chipped earlier than usual due to there being a thicker layer at the ends, but that wasn't hard to touch up.  Overall I was increredibly pleased with this pedicure!

My Dunky is Purple

Here is my other Glitter Gal polish Purple 3D/Holo as an accent over OPI Funky Dunky.  I love the OPI Shrek colors, they are all incredibly pigmented and behave beautifully!
Yet again the holo in the Glitter Gal was amazing.  And in purple I just fell in love.  Anything purple on my nails instantly becomes my new obsession while I am wearing it.  This was no exception!  I would even sneak peeks while I was driving!
